Moonrise, Hag's Head, Cliffs of Moher, Co. ClareHag's Head is the southern end of the Cliffs of Moher, quieter and wilder than the main visitor area. I found this narrow gap between two pillars of Clare shale and waited for the moon to rise into it. The timing had to be precise. A few minutes either side and the moon would have been hidden behind rock. That deep red orange colour comes from the moon sitting right on the horizon, its light passing through the thickest part of the atmosphere. Above
